Audition Announcement: La bohème Adult Chorus
Opera Maine is seeking adult singers for all voice parts to join the chorus in a concert-staged production of La bohème, in collaboration with the Portland Symphony Orchestra. For this performance, the chorus will sing on book, positioned on risers, and will not be in costume. Audition Details:
Thursday, October 3, 2024, 5:30 pm to 7:00 PM
Location: Mid-Coast Presbyterian Church, 84 Main Street, Topsham, ME
Accompanist provided.
To request an audition: Please email [email protected], subject “Chorus Audition,” to schedule an appointment. Please include a resume or tell us about your musical training. If you cannot attend the auditions in person but would like to be considered, please send a recent (within six months) high-quality YouTube video to act as your audition. The deadline for video submissions is October 2, 2024.
Chorus Music Rehearsal Schedule: Music rehearsals will take place at Mountainside Community Church, 18 Mountain Road, Falmouth, Maine, on most Tuesday evenings and Saturday mornings beginning November 19 through January 19 (holidays excluded). Please inform us of known schedule conflicts at auditions.
Chorus staging rehearsals with the PSO will take place at Merrill Auditorium:
Sunday afternoon, January 19, and in the evenings on January 20, 21, and 22.
The dress rehearsal is scheduled for Thursday, January 23, at 10:30 AM.
Performances are on Friday evening, January 24, and Sunday afternoon, January 26, 2024, snow date on Monday, January 27. Singers are expected to attend all PSO rehearsals, with exceptions granted only with prior permission from both Dona D. Vaughn and Virgil Bozeman.
If you have performed with Opera Maine in The Flying Dutchman, La Cenerentola, or Aida, you are not required to audition again but are welcome to do so.
Compensation: An honorarium and travel stipend are offered.
